Fellas, we are in for trouble. If Drew Brees plays against the Saints like he did against the Raiders, then it is going to be a loooooooong day. He was methodical against their secondary in passing for 5 TD's and hitting several different targets. LT didn't have his greatest game, because I think he's still banged up a bit, but Jesse Chatman is a more than capable back-up who's shown he can play in the league. They absolutely stuffed the Raiders running game to a whopping 22 yards all game long. This is a team playing with a "nothing to lose and everything to gain" attitude. They're looking for respect and Brees is auditioning for another job next year as I see the Phillip Rivers experiment starting up next season. I think the Chargers are a lot tougher than people are giving them credit for, even with their weak schedule. Now let's just see if they can hold up the second half of the season. They've been know for 2nd half swoons the past several seasons. Let's just hope it starts with us.

We will be lucky to be 4-7 in a month. We might beat SD or Atlanta, but I doubt we will win both games. I know we will get spanked hard by both KC and Denver unless we miraculously are able to find a run defense after two years of having none.

Our victories have come against teams that can\'t run the ball (or can but don\'t, in the case of STL) and have below average defenses. I don\'t think any of our next four opponents fall into that category. Just look at how SD dominated the Raiders compared to how we didn\'t. November is going to be an ugly, ugly month for the Saints barring a major turnaround in our run defense, which I don\'t think anybody expects to see.

I think we are in for a tough fight, but let\'s not call the Chargers the second coming of the Pats just yet.

They did a number on Oakland. Remember, it was Oakland. The team led by Kerry Collins. Not exactly a powerhouse this year. More like an outhouse.

Yes we do play down to competition and yes, we need to do more than get the first 11 guys to show up at the stadium to suit up and play \"defense\". Yes SD is a good team, but we can hang with them. It will be a good game.

Great game if we can win....IMO, keep an eye on the depth charts this week. If Brown is a starter, I think we win.

P.S. -- If we can come out of the next 3 games with a 2-1 of 3-0 record, we make the playoffs. 1-2 or 0-3 and we start lining up draft picks. There. I said it. Now let fly the slings and arrows.

Preeeeeeeeeecisely.
Yes, San Diego is playing well. They are not that far removed from being the laughing stock of the NFL. We can definitely beat these guys, but our Oline needs to control the line of scrimmage.

Man, I\'ve watched snippets of most of the Charger\'s games. They look at lot better than decent. Brees and the Chargers offense WILL look like the second coming of the Patriots. The question is what can our offense do?

If we play like we did the 2nd half of the Raider\'s game, we have a shot. If not, it will be a long, long day. Marty Schotty loves to pound the ball and kill time. If they go up ahead early (which is what has happened in almost all our games) we will have a very tough time.

McCarthy has to call an aggresive game plan this game. Set up the run with the pass. Score early, get the crowd out of it. If not LT can run, and run, and run. And their backup RB didn\'t look too bad behind their revamped O-line.

LT and Gates are the key to their game. We find a way to control them, we stay close. If not, they control the time clock and we sit back and drink beer to drown our sorrows.

just to add my 5 cents in, the chargers are playing more of a jelled unit than i have seen in the last ten years. We always spend money but never wisely, this year we got rid of the cancer (david boston for example) and we have a bunch of young guys playing well. I study our opponents very well before the game and I myself is going this sunday, we dont have the big name players but the ones we do have are doing well for us...
