Will Saints OC Pete Carmichael get head coaching interviews?

After the Saints win the Super Bowl, how many of the teams that fired their head coaches will offer him a job?

Same number as 2010.

Haven't heard his name mentioned yet. It would have to be with a team really needing an offense mind. I'd say Cleveland or Detroit but they will probably both be filled before long.

+1. I think the Detroit gig is very appealing... they have a LOT of pieces in place on both sides of the ball and in my opinion, they aren't that far away from becoming a serious SB contender.

Pete has not called plays for a whole season yet. He is isn't proven... and the teams that are looking for a proven HC ready to roll and win.

Seriously, should you be more worried about Pete Carmichael or Rob Ryan?

Last year was his chance. He was the obvious choice to be the interim coach while Payton was out. But instead of a coordinator, the organization went with a position coach.
I think the fact that the Saints did not ask him to be the head coach last year was a definite mark against him. I would imagine that owners would assume that the Saints, who know him best, would've turned the team over to him if they felt he was head coach material.

I read an interesting article a while back on CBS sports as it related to the interview/hiring of unproven OC...

"Outlier rule - always be open to new ideas"
Some NFL owners are looking for innovative coaches (which I think Pete is) & one that is open to new ideas.

Mike McCarthy and Mike Tomlin come to mind.

I wondered this same thing in an earlier post. Vitt and Ryan will certainly get consideration as well

How many of those Coaches that were fired were "Outliers"? :)

Fans only swallow 1 outside of the box losing coach in a row.

Chud - First HC Job -Rookie
Schiano - First HC Job -Rookie
Schwartz - First HC job
Frazier - First HC job
Shannahan - Vet

Ill give Chud the benefit of not having more than one season to do what he wanted.
