San Diego game will be telling

Want to see the Saint's future for the 2004 season -- tune into the San Diego game. The outcome of this game will let us know if we should start planning for the playoffs or analyzing college players for next year's draft. If our defense can't stop L.T. after a bye week and 2 long weeks to prepare then why should anyone think we can stop Priest Holmes, Denver's rushing game, Vick, and by the time we get to them a healthy Foster for Carolina. On the other hand - a strong defensive showing might give the Saint's the confidence and momentum to carry forward for the rest of the season. (Notice I did not mention whether we win or lose --- a win with giving up 150 yards rushing will not buy us anything -- a loss with solid D still brings hope)

True, If we can\'t stop LT there is no way we stop thos other runningbacks. First off, i think that Drew Breese has as much chance of playing like last week as John Kerry has winning the state of Ohio. I think that was a one time thing. Also, if we are going to seirously make the playoffs the only way is to winn the division. Since we are two games behind ATL, and we still play them twice. Say we beat ATL twice (which will be a must), that catches us up with them. so all we have to do is win the same weeks that they win because we will have the tie-breaker. If we have to worry about CAR and TB we dont deserve to get in anyway.

Brees is 3rd in the league by passer rating - I\'m not so sure that was a fluke. He\'s playing good ball so far this season. Not phenominal, but definitely well enough to set fire to our secondary.

I agree -- Brees is having a very good year. I think Rivers has set a fire under him -- and with our run defense the play action pass should be open all day long. This game is a crucial one for our defense -- after an extra week to prepare the coaching staff better have a decent game plan

Brees is going to develop into a pretty good quarterback. I saw him come in for Flutie, I think in his rookie season, and he seemed like an up and comer. Everyone dogged on him last year, how he was a bust, ect., but who would have been perceived as good on that shatty team??

Brees had no protection last year. Seems as though they have fixed some O-line problems this year. Marty\'s fascination with Rivers started at the Senior Bowl, and I\'ll say that he did look good all week in practice and great in the game. Maybe they\'ll be able to tradee Brees for some good picks and actually start to build a good team over there. At least they\'ve had some good teams.

Every game from now on is MAJOR. If we lose more than 2 or 3 games from here on out, its time to think draft. I do not think 9-7 will get us into the playoffs. The only way that happens is if we beat the Falcons twice. Possible but not probable.
