Two 4-4 teams going in opposite directions, although the 49ers were inches away from being above .500 before Colin Kaepernick either fumbled before crossing the goal line against the Rams, or didn’t. The Saints’ return to contention has less to do with them playing well, than with playing in a lousy division. But while the competition should be better this week, it isn’t playing that way.
