Who was NE's QB before Brady?

BNB, if we can get Smith from Utah round two, take him If not, Jason Campbell round three. But with other needs, I don\'t see them going Smith that high. Hopefully he falls to the third and we nab him.

Kyper was on the radio yesterday talking like Smith would go first round, and depending on how he does this offseason, could work his way up into the top 10. The one thing he said that stuck out to me was there were many that thought at the end of last season, that Rivers would go at the bottom of the 1st, and he worked his way up. He also mentioned that my pick, Frye, could land himself in the 1st round as well. I don\'t like Kyper, because I think he\'s an arrogant jerk, but the guy watches a helluva lot more college football than I do.

I also like either Smith or Campbell, but at the earliest in the second. I do like AB, but i agree he does need someone to push him, and BOOman is not the guy for the job!

tobias i do think people were blaming it on the injuriues. rightfully so. but what the panthers did was amzing. im not comparing jake and brooks. i think brooks attitude is a cancer. but i think what i said was jake was playing bad the first half of the season and they didnt have all of those injuries for some of the games he played terrible in. i do think we need to draft for a new qb but keep brooks around one more year to give the new qb a year to learn or maybe even two

Who was NE's QB before Brady?

The first time I heard Frye\'s name was while I was talking to a friend of mine who attends Penn State. They played Akron where Frye is the QB. My friend referred to him as a field general, because of how he commanded the other offensive players, both on and off the field, Said he has that \"something\". Little more investigation brought the following information:

From ESPN:
Age: 23 years old
Height: 6\' 4\"
Weight: 228lbs
Hometown: Willard, Ohio

From Fox Sports:
With tremendous all-around ability, Frye can do it all with over 625 career rushing yards to go along with being Akron\'s all-time leading passer with 8,426 yards. He\'s a tall quarterback with decent size and tremendous speed for a 225-pound player. With a great arm and a new passer-friendly West Coast offense installed by the new Zip coaching staff, he should be lighting up the NCAA stat charts all year long.

Beyond all the physical attributes, Frye has the total command of his team. \"He\'s been a leader for this team the last three seasons both on and off the field,\" said Akron head coach J.D. Brookhart. \"He\'s someone the rest of the team respects a great deal.\"

He\'s big, fast and deadly accurate running a solid 4.6 in the 40 while able to use his body well around the goal line. When he\'s on, he\'s a brutally efficient passer and as accurate as any quarterback in the nation. There might not be a better throwing passer on the run. To go along with all the other positives, he works his tail off and plays well through nicks and bruises.

He will need a few years to develop, but were not exactly looking for him to start right away, either. Well, some of us... ;)

Interesting artivle on Frye BNB. Honestly, I have not heard that much about him but he sounds like a good prospect. I think depending on what we do in the first round and free agency decides if we look qb second or third round. If in free agency we get one good lb and maybe Smoot or a tackle like Walter Jones and move Gandy to RT for a year, then having addressed those needs we can look qb in the 2nd at the earliest. Of course since we will still have Haslett, you can probably bet qb won\'t be a priority at all.

Should we draft a QB this year? If so, who and what round? I\'m interested in the answers we\'ll see on this. I have an idea of who I\'d like to see brought in, but I\'m not sure he\'ll be there when we pick in the 2nd round.
... with the talent this offense has (Deuce, Stecker, Karney, Horn,etc.. ) I would try to get a solid veteran who understands the game, makes few mistakes, still has some gas in the tank, and knows how to be a leader... there are a couple out there that can be had for cheap...

... call me crazy, but I would love to see Trent Dilfer in B&G... he would be in a situation here where his job would be not to make mistakes, and feed the ball to the playmakers (Horn, Deuce)...

..and, before you call me crazy, think about it for a minute :)
