We need to go after a big receiver in Free Agency

Once we cut Browner and Drew restructures[assuming Sean stays], we should be able to afford one and then go after a bunch of underrated defensive pieces. I think we need to focus the draft on a pass rusher first and then shore u the oline. I don't trust that Drew will bounce back without a number 1 receiver.

I think receivers for FA that I feel most confident in
DT[he'll want to leave if Manning is done there]
Megatron[don't care about age, Jordy is likely to bounce back and he's older]
Tate[Megatron's teammate but given his character it's not likely to happen]
Wallace[he's not a fit in Minnesota and he hasn't had a to qb throw to him since Big Ben]

Who I don't feel confident with
Sanu

We don't do that. When have we ever signed established veteran WR's? Payton believes in developing his own.

This is what bothers me. Who on our team has shown to catch a pass consistently? I will say this I am not seeing runs after the catch no one is extending yardage. A Megatron will do that. This season has got my head messed up.

I pray that I finally have a life because this will be the offseason where I will be in "I will believe it when I see it" mode. I can no longer be about football during the offseason.

I will always be a fan but my spirit is broken.

How about Brandin Cooks? Or even the 6'6" Brandon Coleman had a good game against a very good Panthers defense...

The answer is protecting Drew better; he can make a somebody out of a nobody with a clean pocket to throw from...

Or Willie Snead until his injury, Benjamin Watson is having his best receiving season ever...

I feel you on the receiver. I dont think Drew will be here if Payton stays. I look for Payton to leave anyway. The front office isnt as stupid as some of us like to believe. They know that if they want to attract a decent head coach Drew is a hell of a bargaining chip. I look for them to keep Drew because believe it or not he is still playing at a very high level in spite of his offensive line. Coming to a team that already has a good QB, at least for a couple of years looks good for perspective coaches. Gives them more time to find a QB who can be "their guy".

I think we should get an immediete impact receiver in the draft any way we can. Receiver is one position that rookies can step into quite nicely. Hopefully he will be good enough initially to give Brees the confidence he needs to look his way as a passing option on any given down. 2 years down the road you have a young veteran that can help the new QB develop. Brees has always mode our receivers look better than they are and a young stud receiver with a couple years under his belt can make a new QB more comforatable in the same way. All of a sudden now you have two young players to build around.

FA is ok, but star receivers arent just hanging on trees like ****ing crab apples. We could find an older servicable receiver somewhere but you would be in the same boat in a couple years.

I agree with you but as he gets older he is going to become less acurate and is going to need a receiver who can get the tough balls no matter how much protection he has. I think you need veterans for the offensive line. It takes a few years to develop a rookie lineman and that is something Drew doesnt have.

One thing I will say from now on...

You do not build a great team from free agent acquisitions, you build a great team from drafting/scouting well.

Please-please-please-please NO big name free agent WR's. The only free agent WR's I would go for are guys who may have been bad fits for other teams that can be had cheap and developed. In other words if there is another Joe Horn type out there, lets go get that guy and leave the big name people alone.

The thing about Calvin Johnson is that he has a huge contract coming to him next season which might make teams shy away ... IDK exactly how all the financials work, but he is set to get paid in 2016. Otherwise, there's no NFL player in history other than Barry Sanders I can honestly say I've enjoyed watching more.

Be nice to see him get a ring & have an elite QB throwing to him,. Golden Tate's not that bad, being on a losing team has given him a little different perspective on life, IMO,.
