Possibly because he had it all easy up to now and thought he might get the ball away eventually to a check receiver.
In truth Bucs were getting smarter, which is why Brees had to use Spiller on the previous play

That replay clearly showed it was on Hightower ... gotta do a better job of pass protecting.
