Maybe this is in anticipation of him wrestling the job away from Strief.

I don't want Peat at LT or RT guard. I want Peat at RT tackle and Streif on the bench, where he belongs.

Coach Sean Payton said the Saints "certainly" see OL Andrus Peat starting this season.

"Whether it’s at right guard or right tackle, we’ve got some time and some flexibility with regards to that," Payton continued. The No. 13 overall pick last year, Peat failed to earn a starting job out of camp and played 426 mostly ineffective snaps as a rookie. Peat still is not locked into the starting lineup entering his second year, but the Saints are giving him first-team reps at guard during OTAs. With Terron Armstead and Zach Strief locked in at tackle, Peat's only real path to a starting job is at guard. May 30 - 9:36 AM
He has two solid NFL OT's ahead of him. He probably still needs a season to surpass Strief, who may be the most under-rated player on the entire Saints team by the fans.

He's the 4th best lineman on the team. That makes him a starting guard. If he doesn't step up this season, he was just not a good pick at #13. More to the point, not a good scheme fit. He was a tackle in college on a running team. He's being placed at guard in the NFL on a passing team. That's not an easy transition. But, I personally think he will shine this year.

There is nothing underrated about Streif except is propensity to get beat by fast DEs. Remember Ahmad Brooks. Remember JJ Watt.

Who's the guy who plays for the Bucs that beat Strief 3 times and got Brees injured?

Strief will be a starter as long as possible because of his intangibles. He's a great leader. Sean Payton would rather have a lineman who doesn't make mental errors rather than a physical beast who gets the protections wrong.

From RG it's an easier transition to RT than it would be from LT.
