Guido is absolutely right, it doesn't have anything to do with smarts its a pure physical learning that needs to take place and that takes a different amount of time for everybody. The assignments for a position is just mirrored, thats the easiest part.
I have done the transition myself from RT to LT in the club team, then to RG with the national team, C (a wholly different thing) and then LG, it takes time to get used to, and most of all reps.

Re: Saints hopeful Andrus Peat's return to RG stabilizes OL

Peat is in terrible shape and still needs core strength and conditioning to handle the various rushes from NFL linemen. Watching him run sprints at practice was just painful to sit through. Play him at RG this year and look for a guard or two next year and move him to RT to take over for Strief. If not hopefully he will develop into a quality starting RG. He just needs to learn how to get tougher in the trenches.

How do you teach nasty? In the old days a coach could grab you by the face mask and shake you while he yelled at you. That was how we used to do it. Maybe he needs to room with Nick Fairley.

Btw, he's the same age as a 2016/2017 rookie. He's got the size, the athleticism, and the intelligence to play in this league, he may just need more time than your typical 1st rounder does. Sucks for us this year but I wouldn't give up on him yet

Pull out that Black&Gold paddle!
The one with holes cut out so it whistles the wind...
That would fire him up.
Now that's real old school.

Re: Saints hopeful Andrus Peat's return to RG stabilizes OL

We didn't want to play Armstead more snaps than he should have in his first week coming back. Hopefully we'll be able to keep Peat on the right side and be able to get a lot of reps with that one group."

Hopefully?
Who makes that decision?
You do Sean.
Because if you move Peat one more time?
I think several BnG members will snap!
Think of the lives you will save Sean!

If I was the decision maker for the Saints, I would immediately hire Conrad Dobler as a special consultant for Peat. A nice dosage of nasty aggressiveness may turn this kid around.

Re: Saints hopeful Andrus Peat's return to RG stabilizes OL

This is probably the best most relevant post so far this year. Yes we need the D to improve which I believe it will but a dominant O Line could give us a Bowl victory on its own in my opinion. Of course were far from that today but gosh if we could run the ball, we'd be dangerous.

Peat needs a personal coach. Sometimes it can't be all on the team to help him. Players that want to win find their own sources and help away from the team.
