Re: LSU HC COURTING BEGINS
The ship has sailed on Fisher, IMHO. He got lucky with James, aka "crab legs" and is not the Saban coach killer LSU needs. Coach O if he hires a good Offensive Coordinator. Coach Aranda should be considered as well; we is a heck of a coach that LSU would feel his loss if he left. Tom Herman is the likely choice, despite the recent losses he's had at U of Houston.
I am personally rooting for Coach O. It's a nice story for him and IMHO a good fit. He's a heck of a recruiter. And the Bama game showed LSU is closer than we think if we get better players on the OL and at QB. | |

After that last game, I gotta think Coach O is no longer a favorite. I think they are going to throw a boatload of money at Jimbo Fisher and see if they can get him out of Florida.

Re: LSU HC COURTING BEGINS
I'd be ok with Fisher if they can't get Tom Herman. Larry Fedora seems like a good offensive mind and a heck of QB coach, which LSU needs, but I'm not sold on him as a head coach and recruiter. Good coach, for sure, but he lacks any signature wins to make me believe he is elite.
Herman turned around a bad team very quickly, and has wins over Oklahoma, Florida State and Louisville in these two years. He had a long history of success as a coordinator despite his youth before becoming a head coach. Much the same as Aranda did before coming here, that had me so excited. He certainly has lived up to the expectations. I think Aranda will be a head coach very soon, unfortunately for LSU. That's why he'd actually be my second choice behind Herman, but LSU apparently has no interest in hiring anyone without head coaching experience. Jimbo would improve QB play, and he can recruit, but he doesn't strike me as being an elite game planner. His program is too up and down despite the one championship. I do think that if he hires the right coaches and if he can keep Aranda, he would do better here. He'd be able to recruit this area without any serious competition. I don't see Orgeron as anything but a motivational speaker who can recruit and coach defensive linemen. It's harder to recruit when you're the head coach and you have to actually game plan. If he doesn't win early, recruits will lose interest. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
