The worst draft pick ever has to be Erxleben in \'79. A number one pick for a kicker/punter who turned out to be only a punter and kick-off man. Kicked straight-on and couldn\'t compete with the soccer-style kickers.

I will admit that he may have contributed more to the team then some of the other first-round busts, but, can you imagine sitting there waiting for the Saints\' first pick and hearing, \"With the Saints\' first pick they pick Russell Erxleben, kicker, Texas.\"

so far sullivan comes to mind. i know there is many before that but the guy couldnt even crack the starting line in his second season and he was a number 6

hepp me out oldtimers... kevin hardy de was #7 overall 1967. he wasn\'t even in the nfl the next season was he?

drafting was much less scientific and teams didnt share so much info then. i posted before that the saints once traded not only for a player but for \"draft information\". LOL

that considered i will count sullivan as the alltime worst if he doesnt show up this year. just since the whole football world was saying \"huh??\" over the pick. it\'s okay to do that but you better damn be sure you are right if ya do. that is why hearing they had marcus johnson as #16 is so upsetting. why do they have to outsmart the rest of the league?
