Best/Worst Saint Drafts
I reviewed all positions considering only the 5th Round or higher. The rank is some sort of ratio to how well they did or did not do in relation to the pick round.
Best/Worst Year/Round Selected Kicker Morten Andersen 82 4 Russell Erxleben 79 1 Kick Returner Tyrone Hughes 82 4 none specific bad Defensive Backs (2) Tommy Meyers 72 3 Jerod Cherry 96 2 Dave Waymer 80 2 Bivian Lee 71 3 Linebackers (2) Rickey Jackson 81 2 Alvin Toles 85 1 Pat Swilling 86 3 Winfred Tubbs 94 3 Defensive Tackle Jerry Boyarsky 81 5 Shawn Knight 87 1 *never any really strong DTs. Unless Sullivan arises from the dead he passes Knight this year. Defensive End (2) Wayne Martin 89 1 Kevin Hardy 68 1 Charles Grant 02 1 Jared Tomich 97 2 Tackle Stan Brock 80 1 Jon Stinchcomb 03 2 props to Dombrowski and Roaf Guard Steve Korte 83 2 Sam Holden 71 2 Center Joel Hilgenberg 84 4 Robert Kuziel 72 3 Tight End Hoby Brenner 81 2 Irv Smith 93 2 Wide Receiver Wes Chandler 78 1 Larry Burton 75 1 sorry Eric Martin 7th Rd., Lindsay Scott 82 1 just missed Quarterback Archie Manning 71 1 Doug Nussmeier 94 4 Running Back Deuce McAllister 01 1 Les Kelley 67 1 but quite litany of failed RBs in the '90s... Best/Worst Saint Drafts
The worst draft pick ever has to be Erxleben in \'79. A number one pick for a kicker/punter who turned out to be only a punter and kick-off man. Kicked straight-on and couldn\'t compete with the soccer-style kickers.
I will admit that he may have contributed more to the team then some of the other first-round busts, but, can you imagine sitting there waiting for the Saints\' first pick and hearing, \"With the Saints\' first pick they pick Russell Erxleben, kicker, Texas.\" |

Best/Worst Saint Drafts
drafting was much less scientific and teams didnt share so much info then. i posted before that the saints once traded not only for a player but for \"draft information\". LOL
that considered i will count sullivan as the alltime worst if he doesnt show up this year. just since the whole football world was saying \"huh??\" over the pick. it\'s okay to do that but you better damn be sure you are right if ya do. that is why hearing they had marcus johnson as #16 is so upsetting. why do they have to outsmart the rest of the league? |
