They are apparently counting Scam Newton as a RB. The thing is that when he does become a part of the running game is when it succeeds. But that has become a double edged sword. Defenses have learned to absolutely punish Newton whenever does tuck it and run and it really affects his overall play. See last season. He is a one trick pony and the league has learned that trick. Just beat the crap out of him. Don't worry about a few flags. If you don't beat him up he'll get 15 on the ground instead.

Cam took an absolute beating vs Denver last year ... I mean he was treated like one of those old school QB's out of the 70's (also see game vs AZ where Campbell almost took him out).

I just don't see Cam "the runner" as a major threat & I don't expect the refs to do him any favors (especially since he called em out mid-season) either. So that leaves Stewart and X the unknown (Christian McCaffery). I'd rank them #3 at best.

I think the filthy birds two headed monster is far more lethal & should be ranked #1 going into the 2017 season.

I think we could have a very good ground game. If we run a good balanced attack with quick strike potential, the O is hard on defenses. But if we have to consistantly have to play catch up because of the D, the run game is out the window.

Agree!! I think there order is off. At this moment, I'd say Craplanta, Saints, Panties and Tampa. I am also looking forward to see if craplanta loosing Shannahan will hurt there running game. I am pretty sure it will.

It's very odd that they would rank Carolina's Running Backs #1 in the division.

Fozzy Whittaker is their only RB that averaged more than 4.0 ypa. Stewart averaged a measly 3.8 ypa. Cam's rushing ability is a huge factor in game planning but in reality, last year he ranked 5th in total rushing yards for QBs and had a very pedestrian 4.0 ypa. If you remove him from the rushing totals for the team, the Panthers rushing attack was in the bottom quarter of the league.

Falcons 1,811

Panthers 1,455

When you add in receiving yards, the difference is even more distinct.
RB receiving yards:
Falcons 946
Saints 884
Bucs 469
Panthers 369

Atlanta has a legitimate argument that they have the best RB duo in the league. I don't see a single statistic that would indicate Carolina RBs are the best in the division. Teope may be expecting big things from McCaffery but I don't think it's realist to think he will single handedly vault the Panthers RB unit from below average to the best in the division.

1st problem for Cam is the scouting report on him. Hit him early and often and he gets rattled.

2nd problem for Cam is the entire NFL knows it.

3rd problem for Cam is he can not handle it mentally nor emotionally. He is close to becoming the biggest baby in the NFL

lb for lb I would put Falcons first but only because we have two unknown factors. On paper I would put us 1st. Bucs, not even going there. Panthers, a running QB that has been snuffed out and what they signed really does not fit IMO with their offense.

Exactly running QB's don't last long in the NFL
Cam RG-3 Vick to name a few, however early on
they do give even good Defenses fits.
