Here are not one, but two little guys from the same little school hanging with the big boys in the New Orleans Saintsí locker room. It almost played out just like Deonte Harris and Cole Tracy said it would when they were teammates at Assumption College, a Division II school in Massachusetts with an enrollment of about 2,000.

That was where they embarked on record-breaking college careers, and it was where the 5-foot-6 Harris, a return specialist, and the 5-foot-10 Tracy, a placekicker, spoke of their professional football dreams by saying, ďIíll meet you there.Ē Fittingly, crazily, they did.

The idea did not entirely work out. Tracy, who was attending Saints rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, did not leave with a contract.

Still, Tracyís name is well-known around these parts after he nailed some clutch kicks down the road in his lone season as a graduate transfer at LSU. He believes it will only be a matter of time before Harrisí name is known here, too.

ďHe is absolutely special,Ē Tracy said.

This will be another interesting camp battle for the return job. To be such a stocked team I'm surprised that there is plenty of legit competition at the Saints practice facility.

Definitely have some willing, hungry, talented competition for punt/kick returner for this training camp...

We haven't had a really special returnman since Beerman so that would be most welcome.

Roby was pretty efficient; he'd be the floor talent I'd want at the position...

I think coach Payton said it best as it relates to free agents/undrafted guys ...

"Sometimes a player falls through the football cracks. It’s a vision we have for that particular player. Sometimes they fall because of injuries, maybe off the field issues, not working out well, but they play well and sometimes it’s a certain fit. It’s not all about finding starters and sometimes that happens like what happened when I had Tony Romo in Dallas or Pierre Thomas here with us in New Orleans, but it’s also about down/distance players, role players, special teams, adding depth to a position or players that can play multiple positions".

Payton does like to keep a little guy on the roster for matchup purposes.

Take Scott Boston for instance, he was so fast he was invisible until he showed up as an Eagle!!
