Chicken Wings & Boiled Lobster!

Instead of practicing on Tuesday the Saints went in and had chicken wings and boiled lobster!
I wonder what the Patriots were doing. I bet they were practicing, oh wait, that's why they are Superbowl champs and we can't even get into the playoffs.
Why can't the players eat chicken wings and lobster during the offseason?
Is it too much to ask that they put a month of work in to get ready for the season?
Who wants to bet me that Sullivan snuck some Popeye's biscuits into that meal?

Am I the only one upset about this?

Let me rephrase: Am I the only person with an IQ above 10 that is upset about this?

Yes.

Well, I'm upset about it - but I'm just upset b/c someone was stupid enough to serve Lobster with wings. That's like serve $1000 caviar with Hormel Chili. Freakin' idiots.

That was uncalled for.

I wonder if they served wine or kool-aid with the meals.

call it building trust and friendships... getting to know your team mates, hell just take a break and rest. Other teams of these get togethers its no biggy.

ScottyRo 08-25-2005 02:54 PM

I don't have a problem with this. There's nothing wrong with taking a day off every now and then and getting to know each other better off the field or outside the saints facility.

Sometimes we(myself included) are bit too quick to jump on everything Haz does.

I actually think that some of our more cancerous locker rooms would not have done this. Not trying to be positive, but there does seem to be a nice sense of comaradarie going into the year. I know that can be hype, but the sense of team is not really always hyped in these circles.

Gambler....let me try to make you feel a bit better. Henry Jones(ridiculous safety from the Bills superbowl teams) was asked what that team's keys to success were on the radio today. Ironically(considering your post), he said that they took days off and had alot of little get togethers. Said that Marv tried to go easy on their bodies from time to time.

I think stuff like this is good as long as the situation is right. If the Panthers pound us on the 11th and we go out for ice cream and a friendly game of grab ass on the 13th.....then that's a problem. It could just be a way of Haz (gulp) building a team environment.

Also, considering the efforts this team has put forth after their "best" weeks of practice in the past....maybe chicken wings and lobster is just what the doctor ordered ;)

Euphoria 08-25-2005 04:04 PM

They have a similar get together every year... most teams do.

STOCKMAN: sorry if you wanted everyone to agree withyou then you sould only post on a seperate forum where only you can read and post there.

Rewarding with Love, NOT Food

If you reward your children for good behaviour with a special food treat, you’re not alone. Many parents find it tempting to use food as a reward for good behaviour. However, rewarding children with food is not the best idea as it sends the wrong message about the role of food in their lives. Let Truestar give you the information you need so you learn to reward your kids with love, not food.

Rewarding with FOOD
When food is commonly used as a reward or punishment, this teaches a child to rely on food for the wrong reasons. Our bodies need food for nourishment and nutrition, NOT for feeling valued. If children are used to being rewarded for good behavior with food, they will continue to seek rewards of food as they grow up. This confuses children and they may begin to eat not because of hunger, but rather for emotion and self-love.

If hasbeen would just group hug , we might not have to deal with the Jenny Craig countdown every off season .

Eloquently put, but Gambler did start the thread. He is one of the rest of us vegetative ninnys that are drooling on our shoes and take no offense at the team having a surprise day of relaxation.

Oh, and wings and boiled lobster arent a bad idea either. You cant really upscale and go with Hot Phesant Wings... But lobster boiled in Zataran's is probably pretty damn good. But without an NFL salary no one in my neighborhood is gonna have a Lobster Boil anytime soon to find out. I may just have to do one lobster for myself just to try it out. At least boiled lobster is certainly less wasteful than the 750+ phesant carcasses that would have to be thrown out to make enough phesant wings to feed a NFL team.

Please, spare the psychobabble. If people would stop making excuses for why biology/upbringing/Satan/McDonalds/etc is to blame for obesity, it would be easier to get to the real root of the problem.

You lack the will to put down the fork and get off the sofa.

I have a nice beer gut. Why? Because I eat more than I exercise. I dont need therapy to get to the root of the problem. Whatever the cause may be, I still know when I go for the cheeseburger that I should go for the salad. If I know this and I whine about my genes or temptation by succubi wearing onion rings as pasties, I am simply making an excuse for my behavior without trying to change it. That, in my opinion, is a much larger dilemma than being rewarded with food as a child.

And this whole freaking conversation has done gone and made me hungry.

I think you guys should all step back and take a deep breath....
dudnt that feel better...
so what..they had some food...I think Haz is more concerned with the overall attitude in the locker room this year.......
And one day off isn't gonna hurt anyone........
(unless they lay an egg sept.11)

biloxi-indian 08-26-2005 08:11 AM

Only one concern. Did they serve butter with the lobster's? If so, I hope AB and the wide receivers wash their hands before Friday's game. Otherwise we will see...well you know the rest of the story!

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 09:32 AM

Well, if they lay an egg on 9/11, I still couldn't blame this one day of practice about 3 weeks earlier for that. How much difference could one day of practice at this point make?

Why are you telling me this?

Personally, I like chicken wings.
