Fincher

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I've read that Fincher broke his wrist in the game. I poked around the web a bit, but I couldn't find any real prognosis. Does anyone know how bad it was (i.e. how many weeks he may miss)? McKinnon did ...

McKinnon did look pretty good! Too bad our run-D didn't.

RE: Fincher

I wouldn't be surprised if Watson was demoted before the season starts. Hopefully McKinnon has enough gas left in that tank to provide our linebacking core some experience and tough physical play. He's proven to be a solid linebacker throughout his career as a Cardinal. I hope he'll bring more to the table than Ruff did for us.

On Fincher, I'm reading that he'll be out between 4-6 weeks. He wasn't slated to start anyways so I don't think it will be that big of a loss for us. They say if he chooses to have surgery and/or play with a cast, he can be back sooner. It's nothing official though I'm just getting this info off other boards.

RE: Fincher

I hope SOMEBODY steps up! I don't care who. We have got to be able to stop the run if we want to win at all this year. I heard the Cards wouldn't mind having McKinnon back. And whats all this I hear about Boo being injured?

Tight end Boo Williams was likely lost for the season with a pair of torn ligaments in his right knee. Linebacker Alfred Fincher was lost indefinitely with a broken right wrist. Right guard Jermane Mayberry left the game with a strained left calf that is expected to sideline him for a couple of weeks.

-- Saints Injury Update --
Sat Aug 27, 2005 --from FFMastermind.com

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Saints starting OG Jermane Mayberry strained his left calf on the final play of the first quarter during last night's preseason game against the Ravens. HC Jim Haslett said he is expected to miss a couple weeks. Rookie LB Alfred Fincher broke his right wrist in the third quarter. Haslett said he might require surgery and was unsure of the timetable for his return. The following Saints were not in uniform: WR Az-Zahir Hakim (hamstring), WR Talman Gardner (ankle), TE Shad Meier (knee), OT Spencer Folau (shoulder), OG Jon Stinchcomb (knee), FB Nate Schurman (ankle), LB James Allen (knee), LB Cie Grant (knee), and DT Brian Young (knee).
