Don't Let Roger Wear You Down!
To those who "just want the season to get started". To those who "just want to put this behind us".
With all due respect, and let me also say I get where you guys are coming from and I'm not trying to start anything with any of you...
BUT...
That is PRECISELY what Roger Goodell wants you to to do. Every little leaked bit of hearsay evidence that Roger carefully leaks out to the media is done so with a clear purpose in mind. It's orchestrated. Roger has calculated that, over time, people will just grow weary of the whole thing and accept it as it is and will just beg for it to go away.
DO NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!
I'm not saying be a homer. Approach this from right and wrong. That Roger Goodell has been legally bequeathed the power to accuse and convict without evidence is beyond the scope of football. IT ISN'T RIGHT.
Look, We're Saints fans so we're paying attention. All the rhetoric coming from fans of other teams and blow up media dolls looking for web site rankings and increased pay-for-click advertising revenue has to be tolerated. Digest THAT stuff and move on, but don't stop banging the drum.
Bang it for Hargrove, who has had his words twisted by Roger Goodell. Bang it for Fujita, whom we all know to be a pretty stand up guy. Bang it for Vilma who, as I type, is being charged with something that will cost him a year off his career and AT LEAST 3 million dollars, and this is being done by Roger Goodell without offering a single bit of evidence that isn't hearsay.
Roger's fines are over-the-top and out of control, but at least during the season he can point to something real that happened and can say, even technically if nothing more, that a player's actions were outside the rules. It's crap justice, but at least he can point to something real.
With our coaches, yes, the buck stops with them. They're being screwed royally too, but this is easier for me to stomach since they, after all, are responsible for whatever program the Saints were running.
Think more about the players. Think more about how YOU would feel if you were Scott Fujita, Will Smith, Jon Vilma, or Anthony Hargrove (to a lesser degree due to his statement). Would you just roll over? Would you just do your time because you wanted to just get it over with? Would you, without any iota of tangible evidence against you, be willing to have a year or more shaved off your career, or perhaps have it ended all together, at the expense of Roger's agenda to mask the NFLs blatant disregard for player safety?
Hell no you wouldn't. It's not right. It doesn't resemble anything that even approaches being right. It's crap on a stick is what it is.
Don't give up, but more importantly do NOT give in. Roger is playing us all, and when the collective decides to just give in and be done with it, Roger wins.

Totally agree. I don't know how much more there is to say about it, so I don't blame anyone, either, if they don't want to keep talking about it, but it should not be forgotten. The public needs to be reminded, at least every once in a while, of the dictatorial methods Roger uses to run the league. Because it can happen to their team when they least expect it, and eventually if enough pressure is kept on Goodell, he will have to face the music.
Right now it's just us Saints fans, and that won't be enough. All these other wuss fans around the league need to get a clue and stop being stereotypical "I don't care what happens, as long as it isn't my team" people. I have been saying for years that Roger was ruining the league, long before stupidgate.Posted 05-09-2012 at 07:25 PM by burningmetal -
