Draft 2011 Round 1: Saints Pick Defensive End Cameron Jordan and Running Back Mark Ingram

With the 24th pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select:
Defensive End Cameron Jordan out of the University of California
This surprised a lot of people including the ESPN analysts as Da'Quan Bowers, Mark Ingram, and other big names were left on the board when New Orleans time came up. Jordan is a great pick though and should compete for a starting spot on the defensive line immediately.
Word is that Will Smith will be switched over to left defensive end so that Jordan can start at right defensive end.
At 6'4", 283 pounds, the Saints wanted to a big player on the end of their defensive line that could provide a quick and aggressive pass rush. I do believe they got their man.

After taking defensive end Cameron Jordan out of the University of California with the 24th pick of the NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints did a surprising move and got back into the first round again with a trade. The Saints got the New England Patriots' pick at 28th overall and selected:
Running Back Mark Ingram out of the University of Alabama
In a move that was rumored for a few days now since General Manager Mickey Loomis said they would have "discussions" about him if Ingram was still there at 24; it appears as if the Saints wanted the former Heisman Trophy winner bad enough to trade for him.
The Saints gave up their first round pick in 2012 and this year's second round pick to the Patriots for the pick.
