Sympathy for the Vikings

After we won Sunday, I felt bad for the Vikings. But not about the beating we gave them on the field ... I liked that part.
The Saints can come in and smoke the Vikings like we did and I would expect the post-game radio in this market to sound angry, upset, disappointed. Instead I only hear hurt, pain, demoralization. For many Vikings fans, broadcasters and supporters, the games in a 2-12 season at this point are merely a diversion. The 10k ton elephant is that the Vikings only have 2 more games before their lease runs out.
There are some jerk Viking fans no doubt, but there are also a lot of loyal and respectful Vikings fans. Some are my family and friends. People can't imagine the Twin Cities without the Vikings, even if they do choke big games and can't get their pick in time to the draft podium. Tragedy is still entertainment and fans still have a hope that their team's self-destructive days will soon come to an end. Sound familiar, Saints fans?
An article in the Star Tribune on Sunday highlights the stadium situation and how close NOLA came to losing the Saints. It would be cool if the Saints could provide some encouragement/assistance for the Vikings to remain in Minnesota. It's a fun rivalry and most NO vs MIN games (unlike this last one) are really closely fought.
