Hey...just giving you a hard time, because my favorite gumbo is seafood gumbo made by my wife. We're from Mississippi so our gumbo doesn't include tomato(s, es?). I'm not inferring that all Mississippians cook their gumbo the same way...but it's definitely not Creole Gumbo. I don't know what I'm talking about, really.
Anyway, a little story regarding gumbo.
I was wasing my car one Saturday morning, and my wife walked out and handed me the remote phone. As I was taking the phone, I asked her what she was doing. She told me she was cooking gumbo.
I took the phone and found the caller was my wife's niece's ex-boyfriend. He asked me what we were doing, and I said, "Nothing much, I'm washing the car and Cindy's cooking gumbo."
He said, "Cindy's cooking gumbo...you mind if I come by?"
I told him, "Of course I don't mind, only I didn't know that you were in Slidell."
He said, "I'm not, I'm here at home in Pensacola."
So, he drives all the way from Pensacola and arrives just as the gumbo is ready. We all sit down, it was crab gumbo, btw, and we eat our fill. Ronnie had 2 bowls.
After dinner, or actually lunner, (mid-afternoon), we retired to the couch and some football. Ronnie fell asleep and slept for about 2 hours on the couch. He then got up, had another bowl of gumbo, and then got in his car and drove back to Pensacola.
I told my wife that she should be really flattered.
I will have my wife write down her recipe if anyone here is interested.
That is all.
