Jones not signing with Astros, stays with Tigers

August 16, 2007 BATON ROUGE -- LSU safety Chad Jones participated in the Tigers' morning practice Thursday, one day after the deadline passed for Jones and the Houston Astros to agree on a contract. The Astros, who selected Jones in the 13th round of this year's first-player draft, had until 11 p.m. Wednesday night to sign Jones or forfeit his rights. Jones, who will also likely play baseball at LSU, was a five-star recruit from Southern Lab High School in Baton Rouge.
