Miles Addresses Media
BATON ROUGE -- Monday was a busy day for the second-ranked LSU football team as the Tigers began their preparations for the BCS National Championship Game against top-ranked Ohio State.
LSU will meet Ohio State on Jan. 7 in New Orleans at the Louisiana Superdome for the BCS National Championship. It will be LSU’s second trip in four years to the BCS national title game. LSU goes into the contest with an 11-2 overall mark, while Ohio State is 11-1. In addition to their first practice in over two weeks, LSU coach Les Miles and the Tigers welcomed nearly 100 members of the media to campus, including several Ohio State beat writers and a handful of national college football writers. Due to LSU advancing to the BCS National Championship Game, the media attention dedicated to the Tigers appears to be at an all-time high. Monday’s media schedule also had several members of the LSU team participating in interviews with ESPN for their College Gameday Show as well as a sitdown with Miles for a spot on SportsCenter, which will run throughout the week. FOX will come to town later in the week to do in-depth stories on defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, quarterback Matt Flynn and running back Jacob Hester. Once the Tigers hit the practice field, it was back to business as usual for LSU. “(Today) was about getting our legs back and getting our feet underneath us,” Miles said. “It was what you would expect from a first practice back. I liked the effort and we got some things accomplished. “Tomorrow will be similar. We will step it up and add to them as we go along. It was a shorter practice today. You could tell there was some health and freshness on the team.” LSU will practice again on Tuesday afternoon as the Tigers will conduct drills through Saturday before taking a three-day break for Christmas. LSU will return to campus on Dec. 26 and will resume its workouts on Dec. 27. LSU will report to New Orleans on Jan. 2.
