Tebow should be medically cleared

UPDATE (11:14 a.m. CST): Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has passed every medical test as of late Saturday morning and should be medically cleared to play against LSU, according to a University of Florida team source.

Team doctors will oversee Tebow's status all day but will probably approve him well before game time, according to the source. The only way Tebow's status changes is if unforseen symptoms arise from the concussion he suffered two weeks ago against Kentucky.

There is no word yet on whether Tebow or backup John Brantley will start the game.

Coach Urban Meyer said in an ESPN interview for College Gameday that Tebow will play if medically cleared.

“If he’s ready to play, cleared to play, we’re going to play him,” Meyer told ESPN.

John Brantley III, father of UF's backup quarterback, said his son is expecting a "game-time decision" on who starts the game. Efforts to reach Tebow's family and coaches have been unsuccessful.

Florida spokesman Steve McClain on Friday night denied a report from Orlando's WKMG-Channel 6 that Tebow "definitely" will play because his status had not yet been determined.
