Les Miles Must Address LSU's Sputtering Offense

I've got lots of LSU football questions - and few answers. Like, how can the Tiger defense hold Tim Tebow and company to 13 points and not win? How can the LSU offense be last in the SEC in total yards. How can LSU be 11th in a 12 team league in scoring offense?

Or how can the once proud LSU running game be 11th in a 12 team league? How can LSU be last in the league in sacks allowed with 18?

All of the above numbers can lead us to only one conclusion. The LSU offense is an embarrassment.

Strong words you say?

Let me put it to you this way. A bunch of these Tigers on offense will soon play in the NFL. But all they can do as a group is be better than Vanderbilt in the SEC?

Sad.

Wide receivers Brandon LaFell and Terrance Tolliver are future high NFL draft picks. Tight end Richard Dickson will play on Sundays, as will running back Charles Scott and offensive tackle Ciron Black.

Freshman phenom Russell Shepard will likely play in the NFL, too. Oh, sorry I forgot. On a night when the LSU offense was non-existent, the 2008 Texas high school player of the year didn't get on the field.

It doesn't add up.

Why is Charles Scott running sideways on the option? Charles Scott is a smash mouth north-south runner. Tippy toe isn't his thing. Running over people is.

So, what happened to this LSU offense?

For starters, not having Ryan Perrilloux as the starter at quarterback for the last 19 games has cost the Les Miles dearly. If Perrilloux is on the field in 2008, LSU is minimum a 10 win team. If Perrilloux is under center Saturday night before a record crowd to watch a football game in Louisiana, Florida goes home a loser.

Jordan Jefferson may one day be the answer. But, right now, he isn't.

If I am Les Miles, I am asking why can't my offensive line move people? Do the Tigers miss mainstays Brett Helms and Herman Johnson that much? If so, shame on them. Because I don't know if you've noticed but players do finish their eligibility and move on. Coaching staffs have to replace them.

Saturday night, Miles knew he missed a golden chance when his offensive laid a giant egg against Florida.

The Florida defense is very good, but I promise you that the Alabama offense will move the ball against the Gators in the SEC championship game.

In the offseason, Miles made a great hire in defensive coordinator John Chavis. This season, the LSU defense, with fewer good players than last year, is playing much better football.

If the offense continues to stink, Les may have to shake up his staff again.

The bottom line is there are too many good players on the LSU offense to be this bad. And calling it bad is being kind.

yes 2 good drives and we beat Florida...my only hope now is to get it together on the offensive side and make a run if we beat Alabama and dont' lose again we can go somewhere but doesn't really matter if we can't get something going
