Fiesta Bowl

So, I watched the Oklahoma Stanford game last night. Of course the 3 and 4 ranked teams (respectively) in the nation behind LSU and Alabama at 1 and 2 as you know.

Now, I confess I'd not seen those two teams play. As I have said before, I'm not a huge college football fan, although I am growing to appreciate it and have thoroughly enjoyed watching the SEC kick the snot out of just about everybody this year.

So I'm watching that game and I'm thinking, pretty much from the opening kickoff, that, you know, I don't get it. I'm not being a homer here, even though I'm an LSU guy of course, but God as my witness I am being completely honest when I say I don't get it.

Seems there was this outcry from both those teams after the final rankings. And yeah, I know that happens every year, and in many cases it's warranted, but both those teams were performing the annual ritual whine of "we should have been given a shot at #1".

Let me just say, as uneducated as I may be about college football overall, that in my most humble opinion, neither of those teams would have a snowball's chance against either LSU or Alabama. Not one change in a million, certainly not 1 in 10, 50/50, you get it.

LSU and Alabama are, according to me anyway, the clear numbers 1 and 2, and I'm not sure anybody else is close. After watching the fiesta bowl, I can say with a straight face that neither of those two teams would have a snowball's chance. They should be thankful they didn't have to play LSU or Alabama. It would take years for those organizations to recover from such an ass whippin.

They're all talk. If they wanted to play and be respected among the big boys, start scheduling some non-conference games against the SEC powerhouses. Til then, shut up and enjoy their Fiesta Bowl.

I seriously agree with Saintfan on this. I think the BCS got it right for the first time in a long time. LSU Alabama is THE game people want to see against the 2 best teams in the country.

If LSU played Oklahoma State, I would have purchased my BCS Championship merchandise already...
