LSU's Board of Supervisors approve new contracts of several coaches
LSU's Board of Supervisors unanimously approved new contracts for seven assistant football coaches at its meeting Friday, along with contracts for men's basketball coach Johnny Jones and assistant basketball coaches Robert Kirby and Charles Leonard. LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva spoke before the board for only five minutes, pitching the raises as investments rather than expenses.
John Chavis Defensive coordinator will make $900,000 in 2012 "What's the price for losing? I don't know. ... But I know that we need to continue to win, and these men represent investments for the future," Alleva said." Defensive coordinator John Chavis had the most significant change to his contract, receiving a raise from his current $700,000 salary to $900,000 in 2012, $1.1 million in 2013 and $1.3 million in 2014. Jones will make $1.1 million in 2012, a 27 percent reduction from the $1.5 million salary of former basketball coach Trent Johnson. Kirby will make $240,000 and Leonard will make $130,000. read more | |
