this is a discussion within the College Community Forum; #1 was ignorant enough, but USC at #2 is just as bad. I watched them today against Syracuse and they were not impressive at all. In fact, Syracuse was on their QB like white on rice. Let's get real: Alabama ...

How is USC #2?
#1 was ignorant enough, but USC at #2 is just as bad.
I watched them today against Syracuse and they were not impressive at all. In fact, Syracuse was on their QB like white on rice. Let's get real: Alabama and LSU are in an entirely different league compare to the rest of the playing field. Bama is impressive and LSU equally as impressive. Their matchup this year will be "THE GAME" and great chance both will end up in the BCS AGAIN! USC plays who???? When USC makes it through their division 1 season undefeated, which means they'll beat Oregon - a feat they haven't accomplished well in recent history, then they can give the polls a call. Until then, they're very overrated. |

well so far .... Mettenburger > Barkely. If it weren't for drops from easily catchable balls in the Washington game, his numbers would have been Brees like.

Hey Halo, get outta my USC-hating Kool-Aid!!!
LSU or 'Bama would murder USC ... and for that matter South Carolina, Georgia & Florida probably would, too. Even Mississippi State would give 'em a heck of a game. |

Re: How is USC #2?
It's because a lot of voters WANT someone to beat the SEC at this point, by any means necessary. How do you accomplish that off the field since it can't be done on the field? Prop another team up high based on, well, nothing(USC, Florida State, Oklahoma), wait and pray the SEC teams beat each other, (which they usually do to an extent although LSU and Bama have avoided this pitfall to some degree of late except beating each other), then declare the championship game between USC and Florida State a real championship game, and predict how you knew all along the SEC run would end. Then when USC destroys Florida State, scream how they could have taken any SEC team as well had they played them in the championship game. It's so transparent it's sickening. *See Auburn being left out of the champ game to watch USC kick the dog crap out of Oklahoma if you need a recent example. Rinse. And repeat.

Re: How is USC #2?
USC is #2 the same way Michigan was #8 to start the season ... doesn't mean a whole lot. I honestly think they just do the rankings the way they do to spur debate and/or interest in college football ...

Re: How is USC #2?
That's gonna be where the fun starts. Instead of 2 teams in the Championship series, they'll stuff in 3 or 4 SEC teams.

Re: How is USC #2?
Once we get to a playoff, they will see a real run of SEC dominance. I don't see how you ever keep a one loss SEC team out, and you have to include the SEC champion. That's an almost automatic 2 always.
