Joe Montana's Son To QB Tulane

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Tulane says it has received a national letter of intent from junior college quarterback Nick Montana, the son of Hall-of-Fame NFL quarterback Joe Montana.
The younger Montana threw for 2,652 yards and 22 touchdowns this past season at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.
Tulane says the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Montana, who has two years of eligibility remaining, is enrolling this spring, meaning he'll be able to participate in spring practice and compete for the starting job next fall.
Green Wave coach Curtis Johnson says bringing Montana in was among his top goals for what will be his second recruiting class.
Nick Montana says Johnson's system is a good fit for him. He says Tulane's academic standards are also important to him as he pursues a business degree.

Extra media exposure(which is a plus for the program). As far as quarterback play, not expecting much.

Good for him. I've wanted to see him play for a few years now.

Seems like he handles the pressure of being Joe Montana's son and playing in his father's shadow okay.

Good for the program, I'll be trying to catch a few Tulane games the next season or two.

There is only one Joe. Kind of like being Michael Jordan's son.
Good luck to him.

I think Montana's first son already limped through the NCAA... he definitely wasn't Joe, in fact if memory serves, he never started. I think he was an honorable scholarship appointment.

I guess Joe Montana does not have potent genes as Archie Manning does. The jury is still out on Brees' stable of future QB's.

Sad to say, if he's going to Tulane he probably wasn't good enough to go anywhere else. But there's no doubting his pedigree, and the program could sure use the attention.
