LSU hopes to keep Super Bowl streak alive in New Orleans
LSU fans may have four different choices on who they want to win next month's Super Bowl in New Orleans, but there's a streak at stake for them to consider. There has been at least one former Tiger on each of the past 11 Super Bowl champions, a streak dating to the 2002 game.
Of the four remaining teams, only Baltimore does not have a former Tiger on its roster. New England is led by running back Stevan Ridley, while Atlanta starting center Todd McClure wore purple and gold and San Francisco defensive back Curtis Taylor is another former Tiger. Here's a look at former LSU players who were Super Bowl champions and below that a list of Tigers who have played in the game: LSU's Super Bowl Winners (27) Joseph Addai (RB), 2007 Indianapolis Colts Eric Alexander (LB), 2005 New England Patriots Rohan Davey (QB), 2004-05 New England Patriots Ryan Clark (DB), 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers Michael Clayton (WR), 2012 Tampa Bay Bucs Alan Faneca (G), 2006 Pittsburgh Steelers Marlon Favorite (DT), #2010 New Orleans Saints Kevin Faulk (RB) *2002, 2004-05 New England Patriots Matt Flynn (QB) 2011 Green Bay Packers Randall Gay (CB) **2005, 2010 New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints 2005, 10 Howard Green (DT) 2011 Green Bay Packers Jarvis Green (DE), 2004-05 New England Patriots Devery Henderson (WR) 2010 New Orleans Saints Marquise Hill (DT), 2005 New England Patriots Greg Jackson (SS), 1991 New York Giants Tory James (CB), 1998-99 Denver Broncos Quinn Johnson (FB) 2011 Green Bay Packers Brian Kinchen (TE), 2004 New England Patriots Leonard Marshall (DE), 1987, 1991 New York Giants Anthony McFarland (DT) **2003, 2007 Tampa Bay Bucs, Indianpolis Colts Fred Miller (DT), 1971 Baltimore Colts Remi Prudhomme (C-G), 1970 Kansas City Chiefs Johnny Robinson (S), 1970 Kansas City Chiefs Jim Taylor (RB), 1967 Green Bay Packers Billy Truax (TE), 1972 Dallas Cowboys Justin Vincent (RB)#, 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers Corey Webster (CB), 2008, 2012 New York Giants Former LSU Players on Super Bowl Rosters Joseph Addai (RB) Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl XLI, XLIV 2007, 10 Charles Alexander (RB) Cincinnati Bengals Super Bowl XVI 1982 Eric Alexander (LB) New England Patriots Super Bowl, XXXIX, XLII 2005, 08 Mitch Andrews (TE) Denver Broncos Super Bowl XXII 1988 Michael Brooks (LB) Denver Broncos Super Bowl XXII, XXIV 1988, 90 Billy Cannon (TE) Oakland Raiders Super Bowl II 1968 Warren Capone (LB) Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl X 1976 Ryan Clark (S) Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XLIII, XLV 2009, 11 Michael Clayton (WR) New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI 2012 Rohan Davey (QB) New England Patriots Super Bowl XXXVIII 2004, 05 Early Doucet (WR) Arizona Cardinals Super Bowl XLIII 2009 A.J.
