Re: NCAA searches for new low by denying Marine eligibility

Dem's da' rules, ... he musta' been playing for the Base team, which is pretty organized. I used to catch the 2dMarDiv games when I could. The reason there's such a gap between games (at times) is for lack of opponents and to accomodate everyone's deployment schedules. It's actually pretty good ball with a lot of former college guys participating, same with most Base sports.

Suck it up, jarhead ... continue to march. .

Re: NCAA searches for new low by denying Marine eligibility

Well, good for him, but now it opens up a whole bag of worms in terms of college eligibility. If you do it for one, you gotta' do it for all.

The level of football played by those base teams is the equivalent to college level/semi-pro and many former college players who've joined the military after school participate. The spirit of the rule is to preserve the amatuer status at the college ranks and discourage players from choosing semi-pro athletics for pay over a college education.

So now you are you going to allow athletes to participate in military athletic programs for 4-6yrs and then be eligible for NCAA athletic programs after that? It may be good for military enlistment levels (which I think should be mandatory anyway, ), but you're basically encouraging the military to act as a minor league for college football ... it's a slippery slope.

NCAA shoulda' stuck to their guns ... nobody made the kid enlist instead of attending college.

Slo and I are on the same page and both ex military....

He knew the rules when he played for his base team... While the active military and veterans greatly appreciate the civilian love..... We don't want any favors, we didn't lace them up for that. We more than most understand why there are rules and support them.

Most important sets of rules; The Bill of Rights. Constitution, Declaration of Independence.
