Texas regent, booster talked with agent for Tide's Saban agent about Texas job
The Associated Press has learned that a University of Texas regent and a former regent spoke with Alabama coach Nick Saban's agent about Saban coaching the Longhorns if Mack Brown retired.
The meeting took place a few days after Alabama won the national championship in January. Two days later, Brown was approached by the former regent to consider retiring. Regent Wallace Hall says he spoke by telephone with Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, a few days after the Jan. 7 BCS championship game. Tom Hicks, a former regent, also was on the call with Sexton. It was not clear who initiated the meeting. Sexton did not return a call seeking comment.
