Speaking of Ole Miss

My daughter Ashton signed her National Letter of Intent to play FastPitch Softball for Ole Miss. Being a diehard LSU man; I am extermely proud of her. She has always wanted to play Division 1/SEC softball. I am humbled to be a dad that has been able to see his 1st child's dream become a reality.

Y'all are a second family and feel it is only right to let y'all know about it. So if you happen to be watching the SEC Network next year and see Ole Miss Softball playing, be on the look out for #12 of the Lady Rebels.

Re: Speaking of Ole Miss

She's pretty good with the bat.

A a batter trying to hit a 58-60 MPH fastball in fastpitch softball, has the same reaction time as a baseball player trying to hit a 105 MPH fastball. There are few that can throw in the low 70's. That's bringing it! If you blink; take your eyes off the ball for a milisecond and it's a strike.

My daughter pitches every once in a while. I used to have to catch her. Lets just say I bought shin guards. Lucky for me, I used to be a catcher so it wasn't as bad on me.

I hear ya' ... played a lot of "slo"-pitch (of course, ) at one point and our "manager" got the bright idea to enter us in a fast-pitch tourney because we had one guy (count 'em ... ONE, ) who could pitch at that level. Yeah, we were the 'pride of the bar leagues' ...

Needless to say, it was an eye-opening weekend for me ... think I managed to foul one off at some point, not sure, ... made me a firm believer that the hardest thing to do in professional sports would be hitting a fastball, .
