Yeah I don't buy that "they are just kids" stuff either. Sure a bunch might come from tough upbringings but you always have a choice to do right or wrong.

When my grandfather was 18 he was fighting the Russians to keep Finland a free nation. Myself at 18 I was rasing my grades in school, running our farm, working at a sawmill and voulenteering as a youth coach. I have very little pity for "kids" who can't behave. Sure I got drunk and had a good time but never enough to do something stupid and get arrested.
