Week 14 Match ups
Now we have reached a point in the season were match ups start to make and break a players draft stock. Plus the games become simpler to select.
I have been waiting for this game Michigan St Vs Ohio St Home field advantage? Nope, OSU is my most hated media darling at the top of the poles. Yes I have always hated OSU but talk about a team getting by week in and week out by the skin of their teeth. But winning is everything, right? They are my #1 under achievers for 2016 so far. MSU got a bit too much hype early on and have actually played better than I thought given the huge talent turn over to the NFL. If MSU can go in and pull off a win it will put them right back in playoff race and pretty much put a nail in the OSU coffin. Conner Cook behind a pretty decent OL will face a OSU defense that is loaded. This is Conners' draft party and he goes into it with an questionable shoulder injury. But if any QB in this draft can handle change and adversity it is Conner. Last year he had to catch up with all the talent he had on the field and this year all the talent had to catch up with him. Slow gong to say the least. No QB has has more key dropped passes than Conner. But he remains unfazed. I often wonder how good he would be is he had some WRs come through with him. DE Joey Bosa vs. T Jack Conklin - this match up will be huge But OC Jack Allen MSU must play the game of his life today. Joshua Perry, OLB, Ohio State: 6035 254 4.67 One of my favorites for OSU is often over looked and I can not figure out why. Plays non stop with reckless abandon. which I will admit does get him into trouble at times. But he is solid against the run and sets the edge well. He is a good at blitzes. His pass rush skills are there but OSU does not send him as much as I would like. Then there is pass coverage skills that are..well improving with each and every game seriously has shown steady improvement in this area all year. Bucking for my pick in the draft in round 2. Then there is a boat load of players that will be on the board when the saints are drafting so you pick from the rest. list goes on and on all the way through the seventh to top priority UDFA. This is the draft show of the week Ohio State Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State Adolphus Washington, DT Michael Thomas, WR Darron Lee, SLB Braxton Miller, WR Pat Elflein, RG Vonn Bell, FS J.T. Barrett, QB Michigan State Shilique Calhoun, DE Aaron Burbridge, WR Lawrence Thomas, DL Darien Harris, SLB Joel Heath, DT Josiah Price, TE Macgarrett Kings WR Michigan at Penn State This to me is all about Penn St front 4. Michigan should be able to send a message to Christian Hackenberg this is not his year. No player in college screams stay another year to me more than Chris. One, his not ready because his Jr year was about him taking a pounding behind that young OL than it was about becoming a better QB. But I have to admit the OL have improved as the year dragged on for them. No team in college football would benefit more if all their Jr returning for one more year. Penn St. has a great recruiting class of sophomores and freshman at all the key positions. DT Austin Johnson once again leads the my list of players to watch. He should be on the field plenty. Hopefully not to much lol. He will wear down by the 4th if he is over used. Penn St has some of the best DL depth in college football so he should be ok. He eats up the blockers so Carl Nassib and Anthony Zettel can get all the head lines. I look for a big day from TE Jake Butt Michigan one of the best all around TE in the Draft. LSU vs Ole Miss Now if you were to tell me at the beginning of the season this was a match up I would watch because of the SEC rivalry only I would have said your are nuts. But for the most part I am watch what the bench has to offer for next year. Plus it is a tradition But there is one I will watch. Tre'Davious White CB LSU vs. Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss Treadwell maybe on the board when we pick in round 1 so I have interest. I think White needs the the game of his life. Treadwell just seems old school to me, nothing overly flashy but he will beat you up and get his catches. . Remember i am not an LSU homer so the rest are pretty much ho hum match ups IMO or there is no way we will have a chance to draft players like Laremy Tunsil or Robert Nkemdiche Vadal Alexander RG/RT LSU has gotten completely exposed the last few games. He is an OG that has a long way to go to develop into a pro OT. Solid round 2 pick at ROG for the saints. Baylor vs Oklahoma St I hate the match up. So much talent and both running a freaking spread. How can you possible scout and OL or a DL in this system when all the skill sets are so freaking opposite of what the NFL will ask them to do. WR Corey Coleman 5-10, 190, 4.45 vs. CB Kevin Peterson 5-11, 190, 4.54 Everyone will be watching the high flying circus as on WR corp attack the other teams secondary. I will give props to Coleman though, he is probably the WR in the draft when it comes to tracking down a pass. Can Coleman be the first WR to translate to the NFL lavel out of this Baylor system? Put him in the slot at the next level IMO. This is a battle of mighty mice. He reminds if Devery Henderson and I expect to see much the same type of results at the pro level. Flashes. So the match up I will be watching is Emmanuel Ogbah, DE Oklahoma State Vs Spencer Drango, LOT Baylor. Constancy is what I am look for out of Ogbah at this point of the season. Shawn Oakman, DE Baylor Vs. ? OSU is a solid unit with no real super stars to talk about. shame really Like Ogbah it is all about hot flashes. I give the upside factor to Ogbah by a large margin. TCU vs Oklahoma What is the one thing you want to see clicking when you start a run at the playoffs? Defense baby. The sooner defense is clicking on all cylinders and this should be a great match up. After what OSU did to TCU last week I am expecting the Sooner to run the Horn Frogs through the meat grinder. Can TCU bounce back and stand up the pounding? Unlike last week at the hands of an OSU defense that is not as good as the Sooners. The biggest biggest question for me going into the season with TCU was toughness and still is. Sooner defense is a unit and till I have an idea what the saints are going to run, 34 or 43 I am not sure who to watch. Rule of thumb I see 43 prospects in the Sooners. No real late late night match ups strike my fancy. it is a channel flipper game night and maybe something will happen. CAL at STANFORD will probably get most of my attention. Joshua Garnett, LG Stanford and Kenny Lawler, WR Cal Almost forgot Arkansas vs Miss St. This should be a fun match up. Chris Jones DT/DE Mississippi St 6045 308 5.12 Vs Sebastian Tretola, OG, Arkansas 6045 334 5.28 Athleticism vs Brawn I look at this as round 3 pick match up for the saints. Oh yeah the other best all around TE in the draft will be on display also Hunter Henry*, TE, Arkansas 6052 253 4.79 |
