Les Miles
Make his fight on the hill in the early day
Constant chill deep inside Shooting gun, on they run through the endless grey On they fight, for the right, yes, but who's to say? For a hill men would kill, why? They do not know Suffered wounds test their pride Men of five, still alive through the raging glow Gone insane from the pain that they surely know For whom the bell tolls Time marches on For whom the bell tolls Take a look to the sky just before you die It is the last time he will Blackened claw massive roar fills the crumbling sky Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry Stranger now, are his eyes, to this mystery He hears the silence so loud Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be, blinded eyes to see For whom the bell tolls Time marches on For whom the bell tolls |
Re: Les Miles
Just heard on the radio that he's gone. Its not "official", but its official.

Re: Les Miles
When you become Sabans/Alabama's b!tch for what, 3 years straight, you have to go.

Yeah, when the whispers started a few days back I figured it was nothing. But it has gotten quite serious. I didn't think LSU would ever part ways with him, short of some complete disaster. I don't get any joy out of the situation, it's kind of bitter-sweet because he's a good guy, but as a football coach his philosophy is built to do exactly what he has done... Get great talent, line up and dominate (sometimes) inferior teams, but have extremely mixed results in the meat of the schedule. This forum is the only one I've ever been a member of. I lurk on a few others, but am too disgusted with the level of idiocy I see to ever want to be a member. Nobody has a clue, and those who do get attacked mercilessly. I know I would do nothing but fight with people, if I signed up to that crap. I bring that up because through my years of lurking I have read so many people making excuses for Miles and how he "just wins". He does, for the most part, and he's great if you're a second tier team looking for a little stability. But people fail to realize his inability to ever adapt. The most common thing I hear every year leading into November, when we're somewhere in the top 10 and people like me are asking ourselves "can we pass the freaking ball if we need to?", is "We've been winning with our ground game all year, why should we pass?". And, like clockwork, those people have to eat crow every year with the exception of 2013, when we miraculously had a real passing game, but no defense. You can line up and whip the underdogs all day long until somebody matches your physicality. Even then, we couldn't beat Arkansas the last two years, and they're terrible. |
Re: Les Miles
People that say all he does is win, don't watch LSU football. Because of they did, they would know we lose to the tough/physical teams. As a fan and as a guy with a close relative who is a booster, all the wins in the world mean nothing if you can't beat Alabama.
Less Miles still has some years in him but his philosophies are outdated for this level of football. I can't remember the kids name but we actually have a blue chipper qb that signed his letter of intent. So maybe if we get a coach and staff that is more balanced, we can start off on a good foot. Lastly...crazy thought..but how crazy would it be for Chip Kelly to get the ax in Philly and come to LSU...hmmmm Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk |

I don't know of any QB who has signed a letter of intent for this year. I know we had Feleipe Franks committed, but he just de-committed yesterday. And, of course, Miles supporters are trying to put that on "all you people who wanted Miles out". Jumping to the inevitable conclusion that he de-committed because of Miles leaving. But Franks said he's been talking about doing it for about a month. And people with knowledge of his recruitment confirmed as much. |
Re: Les Miles
I wouldn't blame him. I've been saying for the last couple years, why in the world would any good qb want to come to LSU just to hand the ball off 40 times a game. This is why I can't stand Les..he will run the ball a million times no matter if it's successful or not. This is the biggest thing that has always infuriated me.

and just like you said about QB's, which I agree with, I have always said the same thing about receivers. We seem to be loaded, year in and year out, with highschool All-Americans at that position, and I ask myself... "why do these guys keep coming here? HOW do we get them here?". I'm glad to have them, but most of them just rot on the bench or on the field waiting for someone to look their way. |

5 Coaches Who Could Replace Les Miles At LSU Both local beat and national writers are in agreement. It seems a matter of “when” not “if” for Les Miles departing LSU. One would presume if the administration is comfortable with a $15 million buyout, they know who they want. Here are five plausible candidates. Jimbo Fisher: His appeal is obvious. He’s a former LSU coordinator. He’s 48-5 the past four years at Florida State with a national title. For a quarterback-starved school, he’s fresh off a run of sending three-straight to the first Round of the NFL Draft. Now, he even comes with hair. We know Jimbo loves Louisiana and LSU. This wouldn’t be about money. FSU bumped him up to $5 million per year and would, we presume, go higher. His success has been bogged down by off-the-field issues at Florida State. He’s had his own personal issues. Maybe LSU would offer a fresh start. Dan Mullen: Mullen is heading to his sixth-straight bowl game, which is no small feat at Mississippi State. He’s currently winning with the quarterback Les Miles recruited to play tight end. Though, he has, per reports, rubbed folks the wrong way in the past. Mullen loves the job he has. He’s also been linked to every major opening since 2010. A great coaching job in Starkville lets you compete. A great coaching job in Baton Rouge lets you compete for titles. If this search gets to Mullen, it’s hard to see it going beyond him. Dabo Swinney: He has rebuilt Clemson. This will be his fourth-straight Top 15 finish. There were reports he was willing to consider Florida last year. Of course, there’s a difference between leaving before the Russell Athletic Bowl and leaving before a probable playoff bid. Dabo has charisma. He can manage a program. He also will lean heavily on his coordinators and has a disappointing record in big games. He sounds like the younger version of Miles. Mike Gundy: He’s a man. He’s reeled off four 10-win seasons in his last six years at Oklahoma State. He’s only 48. Gundy is an Oklahoma State alum, but there have been reports for years about internal tension. He nearly left for Tennessee in 2013. Could LSU go for another coach from Oklahoma State with “Just For Men” Auburn hair? Kirby Smart: Smart has coordinated some of college football’s best-ever defenses at Alabama. He’s been in the same position under Nick Saban since 2008. They are paying him a boat load to preclude him taking a non-Power 5 head coaching job. He’s only 39. He could be a candidate for a number of jobs. Though, it’s hard to see paying that much to get rid of Miles to hire a defensive coordinator. |

Re: Les Miles
Figures Danno would like my post but we will see how crappy the Tide will be when Saban leaves and goes to coach the Falcons.

Re: Les Miles
Well... Thanks to Joe Alleva, and whoever else may have been responsible, we get to enjoy an entire season of a media circus surrounding the program. "Does Les have to win this game? What about THAT game? If he wins every game but the Bama game, is he safe? Why don't fans understand that being a nice guy is all that matters when coaching?".
That's what we've been hearing for the last two weeks, and now we have to hear it for a minimum of another calendar year. I don't care if you offered Jimbo Fisher the job and he turned it down (which is probably what happened). You don't create all this talk and then say "oh, uh, that was nothing. He's still our coach". I'm less concerned how it affects this current recruiting class as I am with what it will do to next year's. Miles will absolutely be coaching for his job, even more so, next year. You can tell recruits all you want that everything's gonna be fine and we'll be a great team, Miles will be vindicated (in some people's minds) etc... But recruits have no way of knowing how the season will end. Not many will wait that long to find out what happens. We needed to have a new coach in place, period. Never in my life have I seen so much noise about a coaching change, only for it not to happen. You CANNOT stir this up and not have a backup plan if you don't get your first choice. That's like stopping yourself in the middle of peeing. |
