The presidential election is right around the corner and Americans are wondering whether Democratic candidate Barack Obama or Republican candidate Mitt Romney will be the man running the country. We won’t know the official result until all votes across the nation but the winner of the top five clash between the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers could give us a look into a crystal ball and allow us to know the winner before results are known by the entire country.

Since 1984, the winner of the Alabama – LSU game has gone right along with election results. An Alabama victory was followed by a win by the democratic nominee, while a win by LSU signaled the Republican candidate being voted into office. It has been accurate for the past seven elections.



Let’s take a look:

1984: LSU 16, Alabama 14. Ronald Reagan (R) demolishes Walter Mondale (D).

1988: LSU 19, Alabama 18. George H.W. Bush (R) defeats Michael Dukakis (D).

1992: Alabama 31, LSU 11. Bill Clinton (D) defeats George H.W. Bush (R).

1996: Alabama 26, LSU 0. Clinton (D) defeats Bob Dole (R).

2000: LSU 30, Alabama 28. George W. Bush (R) defeats Al Gore (D).

2004: LSU 26, Alabama 10. George W. Bush (R) defeats John Kerry (D).

2008: Alabama 27, LSU 21. Barack Obama (D) defeats John McCain (R).

2012: Alabama 21, LSU 17. Barack Obama (D) defeats Mit Romney (R).

So when Fox reports that Hillary is being investigated for a massive cover-up, which we all knew about for months, that's fiction? And when a CNN anchor readily admitted that their network had "done everything they can to get Hillary elected", you consider them unbiased?

I doubt it. What was demonstrated in the few games after Miles was fired, is LSU immediately becomes a better team when the head coach gets out of the way of his staff and let's them simply actually try different things and allow skill players to touch the ball, instead of running the same five plays, leaning on Fournette, and only using two WR's when there are 5 or 6 highschool all americans at that position on the roster every year.

I don't know how Miles convinced those players to play in his offense.

But my feeling all along was that, while we knew the team would improve from simply from being less predictable, Orgeron and Steve Ensminger were not a duo that could lead this team to championships. Eventually they were going to have to prove they could make adjustments, when the other teams started getting the book on them.

I hoped to be wrong, and thought the offense would at least compete this past weekend, but it ended up looking like a Miles offense. Bama played disciplined on defense, and they deserve the credit for that... But it was a very predictable offense again, and AGAIN Fournette was being asked to run through 2 or 3 guys at a time. As good as he is, it just isn't realistic to expect him to run through a wall.

Ole Miss put 43 on them, and Arkansas put up 30. Ole Miss is one dimensional, only they are the opposite of LSU. They rely on the pass. The play calling was too conservative. You have to take shots, there were some plays made early, and then they just went in a shell.

Orgeron and recruit, and I'd like to keep him as recruiting coordinator, but if he isn't kept as head coach, I think he'll leave. I still think LSU goes hard for an offensive minded coach.

Sorry that was a long winded answer. I'm a bit tired of seeing the same thing play out every November. LSU needs an elite coach, and they should be able to get one. But Joe Alleva hasn't proven to be very adept at hiring coaches. We'll see.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
