They spend money, that any other team in the MLB could spend, if they wanted too. That makes them evil? Come on man.... When we were beating the Braves every year back in the late nineties, most of that team, came up in our farm club. It's all good though. "New York, New York!"

In seriousness, Paul, I wish they would cap George Steinbrenner's spending. He's driving up the price of baseball for all of us. Baseball needs revenue sharing, and a real salary cap, IMO.
I do like the attention they pay to tradition, and New York must be an exciting place to see MLB. |

Honestly, I'm a Braves fan, then Houston, then the Rays, and then anybody but the Yankees after that.

Re: Braves Fans Speak Up!
Yeah, thats my only problem with the Yankees. I dont care about winning and media hype. Hell, I like that some teams have a big winning tradition. It makes the game better. And the players themselves probably wish the media would find something else to shine the spotlight on. Its not their fault if the tools in the media are a bunch of tools.
But Like you say, SF, I'd like to see the money end of it leveled to an even playing field--- put a salary cap, revenue sharing, and get a common-sense business model together to stop the ridiculousness, rather than just depending on television and endless naming rights and stadium deals. Eventually, they're gonna run out of turnips to pull blood from, and they're gonna have to just use good judgement. This is true of all sports. |
