I don't like the revenue sharing idea at all. The Yankees have probably THE strongest fan base, in the world, when it comes to pro sports, and i don't think it's fair, for them to have to share their revenues, with a team like Baltimore, or even the Rays, who's fans ONLY show up if they are winning. The Yankess are an institution, and without them, MLB would have went bankrupt years ago. There are two types of baseball fans in this country. One's that love the Yankees, and one's that love to hate the Yankees. That says alot about the organization, you have to admit.

Thats a good way to put it, Pauly. It does make sense that you shouldnt reward mediocrity, or teams not willing to try. Still there has to be something in place to give a chance to the teams who cant spend a bajillin dollars.
I still think we need a serious salary cap... maybe a minimum, and a solid business model. |

So this "buying championships" argument is kind of ridiculous don't you think? What, 6 championships in 30 years??? Yeah, we are really screwing the rest of the league..... ![]()

I guess that's not the point. They are TRYING to buy championships. I love that they fail, but they offset the balance. How many teams lost good players to Yankee dollars because the Yankees can afford to pay that fee for going 10, 20, 30 million beyond the soft 'cap' for that given year? On a level financial playing field the Yankees would be no more than the Nationals...ok, well, that's taking it a little too far with all the tradition in New York, but you get the point. LOL |
