Re: Omg, at the missed ump call
Are there any umps out there? I have a question. A long time ago, I was playing 1st base. There was a sharp liner back to the pitcher on one bounce...the batter hadn't even started running when the ball was in our pitcher's glove. He (our pitcher) immediately turned toward me and tossed a lollipop towards me...he had a lot of time. In tossing it so meekly, it only made it half-way to me in the air and rolled the rest of the way. I stretched out and grabbed the ball in my hand but never lifted my hand off the ground. I stayed in that position waiting for the ump to call "out", but he never did. When the runner crossed 1st, which was about 3 seconds after I grabbed the ball, the ump called, "safe".
Did he not call the guy out because I never lifted the ball off the ground? Here's another...(it's late and I'm bored) I once slid head-first into 3rd base, beating the throw by at least a second. As I slid, my outstretched hand slid under the bag. I was called out. I was wondering if the underside of the bag was part of the bag, too, or do you have to touch the top or one of the sides? j/c |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!
