I was thinking the same thing too ... I'm wondering if it's because major landmarks like those are often included in regional school trips, for instance, both my kids took school sponsored trips to Wash D.C. in junior high and visited the Smithsonian, the Mall, et... I'm not sure if the rest of the country doesn't do something similiar ... public schools also, which is why I'm thinking a 7th grade trip is general curricullem around the country ... wish my kids were small again, I'd like to hit that museum in Chicago ...
