Happy Father's Day!

Yep, happy Father's Day, and if you're Dad is still around, be damn sure to tell him how much you appreciate him. My parents divorced while I was still an infant, and I can count, on two hands with fingers left over, the number of times I saw my Dad. I was bitter through my teen years, to the point of even being mostly unemotional about it.

My Dad passed away a few years ago, and I am thankful that I had a few very important days with him before he died. There are ALWAYS two sides to every story, and both have truth in them. That was a hard lesson learned, but I am thankful for it.

Anyway, DO call your Dads and grandpas and great grandpas if you're lucky enough to still have them around. And don't leave out your step Dad, as mine is a truly great man who took on two kids he didn't have to take on and provided an example that, at 43, I will likely never live up to, even though I try every day.

Happy Father's Day! It's a (mostly) thankless job.
