Re: Georgia woman who rescued animals killed in dog attack
Not just rescue dogs. I was attached by our Lab when I was a kid. We'd had him (his name was Trog) since he was a puppy and I raised him. He was my bud. One afternoon, we were both just laying on the floor and I was petting him, down his front leg and across his paw. He'd never been bothered by this, ever, and all of a sudden he attacked me. I had to go to the emergency room. We had to put him down. It was (obviously) a horrible horrible thing - broke my heart in a million pieces.
I'm an animal lover. And in particular I love dogs. All breeds. Currently we have two. They're small dogs because I have little kids, but I miss having a big dog and when my kids get a little older I'll get another big one. But I can tell you this. You have to respect that no matter how much you love them, and no matter how docile they can be, they are still animals and you can never drop your guard. This isn't to say you can't love them, love on them, and otherwise allow them to be a part of your family, but you can never truly let your guard all the way down. I don't know what happened to this girl. It's sad, but my wife is a Vet Tech - been around dogs her whole life - and she'll tell you the same thing. You can never forget they are animals and they can and sometimes do just snap. |
C'mon Man...
