NPR Reporter Refuses to Stand For Pledge, National Anthem
National Public Radio’s White House correspondent has generated controversy after he wrote a blog explaining why he did not stand for the Pledge of Allegiance or the National Anthem at a recent Mitt Romney campaign event.
Reporter Ari Shapiro wrote about his feelings on the issue on NPR’s website in a story titled, “Reporter’s Pledge-of-Allegiance Quandry Sparks Twitter Debate on Romney Trail.” read more |

I guess one of the many privileges of being an American is your right to fail to appreciate it. Perhaps Mr. Shapiro would rather report in North Korea?

Leave it to the 'academics' to over-think it. Education sure has a way of making people look stupid I guess.

"NPR Reporter Refuses to Stand For Pledge, National Anthem"
I wouldn't expect anything else from NPR. He is well within his right to stand or not stand...as long as he's not filing a lawsuit stating that everybody else standing is causing undue stress, and requiring everybody to sit, making him feel better about himself. |
Re: NPR Reporter Refuses to Stand For Pledge, National Anthem
Definitely his right not to stand, but his reasoning is just plain stupid. I listen to a lot of NPR and, frankly, I would have given him more credit than this. It's just stupid.
