It's no different than any lumber yard. A 2X4 is no longer a 2X4. I honestly don't know how they get away with it considering it's false labeling and a 2X4 use to be exactly that until they started shaving it to cut costs. Bread is no different. You can get it very precise. They are shaving it off for a reason.

Subway sandwiches are a gimmick and all lettuce anyway. You gotta' go to an old school deli if you want to get a 'real' sandwich.
