Re: High School Student Wrestles Gun Away From Classmate… And Gets Suspended For It!?
I kind of understand the emergency-suspension in that it's a quick attempt to defuse a potentially volatile situation & give the administration an opportunity to evaluate what's really going on. My question would be, "what do they do to compensate the suspended hero for this lost time after it's determined he did the right thing?" and "why isn't the focus on the kid that was actually committing a crime & threatening another student?".
It's like the story about the kid who was suspended for chewing his sandwich into the shape of a gun, you just wonder where's the logic. Around here, the other day, a kid who works out of the local Air National Guard base walked into his high school alma-mater in his fatigues to pick up some paperwork, and they locked down three schools in a panic, even after the kid had been seen/identified/cleared by security. I see the schools overreacting to minor security issues, then underreact when they have an actual security issue like with this kid on the bus. WTF? Get a hold of yourselves people (in our schools). |
