Odontodactylus Scyllarus (Mantis Shrimp)

Being an amateur marine aquarist by hobby, there are some fascinating species I come across from time to time. This is the baddes of the bad MoFos out there.

Extreme intelligence
Very Agressive
Most developed eyes in the animal kingdom. Suspected to also have infra red vision.
Smasher - Its hammers strike with 200lbs of force, 50 MPH punch. It can break an ankle, split your thumb, or shatter some glass aquariums.
Spearer - Its Mantus appendages (spears) accelerate faster than the eye can see.

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. ~ Henry David Thoreau

That is one badass shrimp! All kind of questions come to mind, like "can you eat 'em?" ... "how many fisherman are killed annually harvesting those little devils?" and "can they be trained as guard animals?".

Apparently, the Italians eat them with lemon, garlic, salt & olive oil, ie Canocchie alla Pezza http://irregulartimes.com/diaries/20...mantis-shrimp/.

I can't find any data on my other two questions ...

Some eat them as sushi. I doubt they have taken human life. They are nicknamed "thumb busters",
apparently they can bust your thumb lol.

Has an enquirer feel but it's realistic.
