"Chuck Taylor's were the shoe of choice (after you got too old for PF Flyers), but only the black or whites, and only the hi-tops if you could get 'em ... didn't even realize they had other colors until a decade or two later ... they (the black & whites) were also my 'third-world country' shoe of choice ... thick rubber soles made them long-lasting and basically "all-terrain" footwear, the canvas would dry out from the rains quickly ... used to get 'em for $7 a pair, look at the prices now since the 'yuppy' crowd latched onto 'em, :shock:.

... I miss rotary-dials ... power could go out, but your phone wouldn't and you weren't expected to carry them around with you answering calls all day, they didn't serve a secondary purpose as a camera and when you threw one out of frustration, they knew you meant business! :mrgreen:.

Yeah, Billy Carter ... the man who let us know it was "Ok" to urinate in public, :lol:.

That sucked! I remember I had a Dodge Coronet 440 back in '76 that only got 8 mpg and gas shot up to $1.55 a gallon ... and the minimum wage was only something like $1.10, :lol:.

One day after little league practice I went to spend the night at my friends house. His mother drove us home, and she stopped to get gas and there was a 5 gallon limit.

She got back in the car and said, "Five gallons. FIVE GALLONS?!? Five gallons won't even move the damn gauge!"

My brother-in-law bought his in 1978.
My dad bought it from him in 1987 for me to drive.
I drove it at the end of high school thru college at LSU until about 1992.
Sold it to my mechanic in Baton Rouge because it ate way too much gas on the trip back and forth from New Orleans to Baton Rouge!
