I was a skater also, Danno.
Just to run through the list of injuries... Broken Left(1) and right(2) ankle. Fractured left elbow (still skated) Broken Left wrist (still skated) Broken right thumb (Still skated) I hellish of a case of road rash that went from my right ankle to the top of my right hip. (I picked scabs for a year after that) and 2 Concussions Boards I broke or broke me: PP: Tony Hawk PP: Steve Caballero Santa Cruz: Steve Alba PP: Rodney Mullen Zorlac: Josh Gibson Dogtown: DT Cross (Was so happy when I finally got this board) and of course I had one of the original Varaflex plastic boards. |

I know. I'm so ashamed. There was a really bad movie that had some guy, the star, who wore black roller skates with neon yellow laces and lights under them. I don't know. I grew out of it...and I can at least say I wasn't the only one. Maybe it was even the 80's by then, I can't remember, but everybody who was anybody had skates like that at the rink. I swear it.

I stuck with what worked for me so I didn't change a whole lot. Several sets of basically the same products... PP decks, Independent trucks, Bones and Kryptonic wheels (german bearings of course). Ahhh the memories. That was a really fun period of my life. I still have dreams of street skating and half-pipe shredding. Do you ever have dreams about it? Skateboarding and BMX!!! Thats heaven!!! |
