I may actually find some old photos and scan/post them. Just don't make fun of me because I look like Juan Epstien from Welcome Back Kotter.

Would have never guessed Epstein your internet persona lends more to Wilford Brimley.

Re: The 1970's

Too many to quote on my phone...

1. I played outside. If it rained we played outside under cardboard, when the rain stopped we played in the ditch.

2. Megalon?

3. The Atari 2600 - ohhhh the memories.

4. 1977-1978 when Smokey and the Bandit replaced cowboys and Indians.

Buckskin Bill black.. are you kidding me?? I never missed this show as a kid. When he did the 'Monday Morning March', I would literally parade around the living room with a stick like I was a drum major for a Marching band.

Good times right there...

Re: The 1970's

I was a skater also, Danno.

Just to run through the list of injuries...

Broken Left(1) and right(2) ankle.
Fractured left elbow (still skated)
Broken Left wrist (still skated)
Broken right thumb (Still skated)
I hellish of a case of road rash that went from my right ankle to the top of my right hip. (I picked scabs for a year after that)
and 2 Concussions

Boards I broke or broke me:
PP: Tony Hawk
PP: Steve Caballero
Santa Cruz: Steve Alba
PP: Rodney Mullen
Zorlac: Josh Gibson
Dogtown: DT Cross (Was so happy when I finally got this board)
and of course I had one of the original Varaflex plastic boards.

I started skating in the mid 70s. Stopped in the mid 80's after my 2nd torn ACL. My first board was a skinny G&S. LOL!!! I also owned a vareflex! I also owned one of those aluminum boards (Quicksilver???)

I stuck with what worked for me so I didn't change a whole lot. Several sets of basically the same products... PP decks, Independent trucks, Bones and Kryptonic wheels (german bearings of course).

Ahhh the memories. That was a really fun period of my life. I still have dreams of street skating and half-pipe shredding.

Do you ever have dreams about it? Skateboarding and BMX!!! Thats heaven!!!

Man, I just got back from Huntington Beach. My oldest daughter was with me and I would see Dogtown and freakout. She would ask why I was so excited? I told her that when I was a kid skateboarding that this is were it all started and my "hero's" were from here. We went to the VANS US Open for surfing and caught the VANS pool comp also. No "Old Guys" were there. Would have been a dream come true to see Steve Cabellero skate.
Like you; those were some of the funnest times I had as a teen.

Re: The 1970's

I had a pair of those roller skates with lights underneath. Looked pretty cool at the rink. LOL

Does that count?
