Organising a visit

Not sure the best part of the forum to put this in, anyway

I want to plan my trip over to New Orleans but it wont be this year most probably 2015 but im going to try and do next year if I can.So im looking to sort out my budget

I have been looking online to rent sonewhere for 10-14 days rather than stay in a hotel.
Seen a few places but obviously dont knoe the area. One place was off North Broad avenue and looks to be in the 7th ward not far from the fair grounds. The other was North Olympia Road/Street just off canal street.

Ill be coming for a game and hoping to get up to a LSU/Tulane gane too, though ill need to use public transport as I dont drive.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Ill most likely be travelling on my own so dont want to be anywhere that would be a issue.

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Re: Organising a visit

For what it is worth an extended stay hotel would probably be cheaper than an Apt. and you would have kitchenette etc if needed. Corporate Apt.s could get a little pricy.

You would also need to drop seeing an LSU game. Public trans to BR from NOLA would be costly as well.

I thought I read there was a bus service and it was around $50 return.
Just trying to get a rough cost at the moment.I have travelled in India via bus/train so im sure I can manage over there.

I did a quick search on Greyhound.com you can get there and back for less than $30 if you book really early.

Re: Organising a visit

If your going to be there a week find a cheap rental car... Taxi's plus a bus ticket may cost you more in the long run.

I cant drive.
Sad really for a 30 year old but i have never had a need to.I live just outside london so use the underground train when in the city and only live 4 miles from work so why pay £6:30/$9.69 a gallon, insurance of around £500/$770 and road tax of another £150-200/$250-300 a year for a daily 8 mile trip i can do in 20mins each way on a bike.

Coon-asses cant drive either... We just get a license to make it legal and what-not.

You may find some of these tools helpful.

You know.... If you spend enough time in the Quarter you may stumble across some nice enough people that would give you a ride to and from the LSU game just because of your accent.
