Announcement from SapperSaint

Days like this week, are few and far between.

Some of you may know this, but for those who don't; my oldest daughter plays competitive travel fastpitch softball. She has been playing it since she was 7yrs old. She is a senior this year (18 in Sept). On monday she committed to play softball at Ole Miss next year.

As you all know, I am an LSU fan and have a strong distaste for Ole Miss. However for the next 4 years I will be wearing the red, white and blue of Ole Miss.

I am extremely proud of her. It has been a long time in the making, but her dream of playing Division I/SEC softball has become a reality. I think as a parent, that's all we can wish/hope/pray for all of our children. To have watched her grow in this sport for the past 11 years has just been a blessing and I would relive those days all over again.

So next year, be on the look out for Ashton Lampton. Coming to an SEC Softball field near you.

Congratulations. I know what your life has been like having been through it with my youngest daughter. It's a big commitment for the child as well as parent. You likely never had a real summer vacation during those 11 years, spending every weekend at some tournament. Vacation was usually nationals.

The good thing is you never had to worry about what she was doing because she was typically too busy to get in much trouble.

Congratulations again, and enjoy the next four years.

I feel you joy and your pain brother.

My son made a 33 on the ACT and a perfect score in math as a Junior, probably headed to Auburn on scholarship, and I'm a die-hard Bama fan.

You are one proud papa Sapper. All your facebook updates show it. You can like Ole Miss softball but you still have to hate their football team.

And happy belated.

Congrats!

Bama wouldn't offer a scholarship?

Congrats on being a proud Papa.

Re: Announcement from SapperSaint

At 5 and 9 I do not know what my girls will end up doing, I know it is not my decision but will be their choice.

Sunday morning I woke up to the realization that I need to start using more "Ma'am" around my house. On Saturday my wife and both girls earned their Brown Belts (4 away from Black Belt) in Taekwondo.

I feel safer yet more vulnerable at the same time.

Sapper, if it helps. Think "I am cheering for my daughter, not the whole damned University".
